Raven Aerostar to Lead Panel Discussion at CABSEC 14

Raven Aerostar will lead a panel discussion at the upcoming Caribbean Basin Coastal Surveillance and Maritime Security Summit for 2014 (CABSEC 14). The summit will be held March 11-13 at the Hilton Barbados Resort in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Affordable / Real Time Situational Awareness

Abstract

Situational Awareness: Everyone Needs It—and Can Afford It!

Border defense, law enforcement and maritime safety all require precise, effective Situational Awareness. Persistent surveillance is the objective, despite the necessity to monitor specific—and often large areas of land and sea.  Fortunately, that capability is now available and affordable in resources such as radar and cameras on mobile or stationary towers, land-based aerostats, ship-based aerostats, UAVs, high altitude balloons or sophisticated aircraft and satellites.  Each of these components may be used alone or can be integrated into a system that offers continuous monitoring, intelligence and reconnaissance of any given area.  Controlled from a single command center, every user can have access to real time information. In this age, when even unsophisticated criminals and terrorists have access to advanced technology, it is critical for security and defense forces to detect and respond to threats as early and as far from our shores as possible.

We’ll put the following questions to a panel of military and industry experts, who will address this important issue and invite discussion with our audience:

  1. What options are available to create a Situational Awareness capability for any given land or maritime area?
  2. What persistent surveillance capability can I afford without millions of dollars to spend?
  3. What technology is available for the unique security situation in my country?
  4. What is the cost of acquisition and expected return on my investment?
  5. How does persistent surveillance work?
