Payload Recovery Parachutes

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Reliable High Altitude Payload Recovery

Aerostar designs and manufactures parachutes for the recovery of payloads from high altitude balloon flights.

These parachutes are designed to open quickly at altitudes up to 150,000 feet and can successfully recover payload weights up to 8,000 pounds.

On a typical high altitude balloon flight, the vent of the parachute is attached to the base of the balloon and the payload hangs from the riser of the open parachute hanging below the balloon.

At the end of the flight, the cutter separates the parachute from the base of the balloon, the parachute opens and the payload descends to the ground.

Aerostar parachutes have performed reliably on hundreds of flights conducted by NASA, Google, space agencies around the world, and other government entities.
